Trend Of Male Models In Fashion Circle
Graceful models have always dominated the runway. But as men’s fashion increases steam, male models could well give their female complements a sprint for their money. Men’s Fashion Week gave many male models the long behind time chance to improve their market worth. The model Deepak Wadhwa, who walked the ramp at MFW says, “Men’s Fashion Week will fetch more buyers to India, searching for male fashion. It will also offer male models a possibility to make their presence felt on the ramp, which was primarily ruled by females,” While male models who contributed in the Men’s Fashion Week are confident of a transform, grooming specialist Meyhar Bhasin says the industry is still dominated by female models who are paid 30 to 40 percent more than men in the business. “The major cause for this trend, particularly in Delhi, is that we don’t have a broad option in male models here. Actually, there are only 20 great male models in the city and most of them desire to follow modeling only as a stepping stone to the acting industry.”

Some of these male models are already getting superior work and money for shows. Says model Lalit Tehlan, “Our demand has increased already. Many of us are paid more for Men’s Fashion Week shows than what we are paid for other fashion weeks.” Seconds Sunil Sethi, president, FDCI, “We have paid the male models the amount that they justify.
The week has absolutely increased their worth in the modelling industry. At the end of the day, there is enormous business for them in this fashion week,” he further added. But model Varun Mitra is rather sceptical about this transform. “While this will certainly bring new faces on the ramp, I am not too certain to what degree would Men’s Fashion Week be able to raise the market value of male models,” says Varun.
