Sonam Kapoor: I Hate Luv Storys VS Mausam

Sonam Kapoor, in a rampant tease with Screen, gets frank on films, fashion and more. When she was asked to give her view about the difference of the movie Mausam as a love story from her earlier romantic film I Hate Luv Storys she replied that the lovely and most important thing about Mausam is that it’s a straightforward love story with unexpected situations. It’s kind of unusual because it’s set in an era not too far back, you may say just about 10-15 years ago when life stayed alive without Internet and mobile-phones. How did people in that time fall in love back then? How did they continue to exist a taking apart? How did they kill time? For love to endure in that day and age without technology is new to our age group and it is quite charming.

In this day and age it’s very hard to have clean and plain love. For people to wait and be tolerant is not easy because we are living in such a fast-moving and changing world where everything is carried out over SMS, phone calls and Internet. Ayaat’s and Harry’s love is exceptional in that it resists the vagaries of conditions. The film crosses different landscapes for the different stages of the affiliation. In Punjab and Scotland it is all splendor and love, with the season of disconnection in Switzerland and then it’s back to Punjab so the movie is constructed over four different parts of their love story. Mausam is in fact a story of what a loving and passionate tale should be like.

On the other hand the movie, I Hate Luv Storys, was a very present-day film with all those things I spoke of. Boys are like that, they don’t suppose ever that they are in love and girls are selfish at the last straws of fiction! People acknowledged with that story because it is a story of our lives and of the  present generation.
